This event had its beginnings in Eastport, MD in the mid-1970’s when Bob Turner, a boatyard worker, decided to burn his socks and have a beer in tribute to the coming of warmer weather. Get your bathing suits, wet suits, etc. ready for the 2nd Annual WVS – Polar Plunge! Last year’s event was a huge success with over 20+ plungers and countless spectators from WVS. Historically, Polar Plunges across the country have supported Special Olympics and local charities. This year, we’ve chosen to support a local charity here in Earleville—Deep Roots at Clairvaux Farm. Board member Jim Miliner will be leading the effort again this Spring. We need volunteers to clean up along Pond Neck Road on the morning of Sat., April 26th. Those wishing to help, should meet at the entrance to WVS, on South Drive at 9 am. Please wear gloves and bring a rake if you have one. Trash bags will be provided.
